But what exactly is prophecy? Why does it matter today? And how can you learn to use the gift well?
The good news is that prophecy doesn't have to be mysterious or complicated. You can learn to hear God, grow in confidence and practise sharing what you receive.
What Is Prophecy?
Prophecy isn't simply predicting the future.
As Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 14:3, prophecy is intended to strengthen, encourage and comfort people.
It is one of the ways God can use us to bless others and point them towards Him.
Why Prophesy?
Jesus operated prophetically, as did His disciples and the early church.
The gift of prophecy is also one of the gifts God gives to His church.
When we learn to use it from a heart of love, it can help us encourage others, strengthen the church and become more aware of what God is doing around us.
How Can I Prophesy?
Reading about prophecy is useful, but you learn to use the gift by putting it into practice.
You can learn to recognise the different ways God may speak to you, practise receiving words and pictures, learn how to interpret what you receive, and develop the confidence to share it appropriately.
That's why my approach combines biblical teaching with practical exercises and activation.
